FIFF 2019 to review docs from US, Italy

The 37th Fajr Int’l Film Festival is to review docs from the US and Italy in Docs in Focus section.

The 37th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has set to review docs from the US and Italy in "Docs in Focus" section.

The section, dedicated to documentary cinema, will screen ‘Triumph’ from the US and ‘Water Lilies of Monet - the Magic of Water and Light’ from Italy.

Directed by Kreshnik Jonuzi, Luftar Von Rama and Charlie Askew, ‘Triumph’ is a documentary on a football match.

Produced in 2017, it focuses on the football match between the Albanian and Serbian national teams during the EURO cup in 2014.

The match ended unexpectedly when Serbian fans attacked Albanian players in the middle of the game.

The documentary shows the history of political tensions, war and genocide following the Albanian National Team to their first EURO cup appearance.

Directed by Giovanni Troilo, ‘Water Lilies of Monet - the Magic of Water and Light’ offers a deep insight into the works and personal obsessions of the genius of Impressionism, Claude Monet.

Produced in 2018, the film analyses ‘Water Lilies’, a series of about 250 oil paintings by Monet.

Established in 1982, the FIFF is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the FIFF has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

Headed by Iranian filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi, the 37th Fajr International Film Festival will be held in the capital, Tehran, on April 18-26, 2019.

A national version of the Fajr Film Festival (FFF) kicked off on January 30 and wrapped up on February 11. Since its establishment in 1982, the FFF and the FIFF have played vital roles in the development of Iranian Cinema.
